I have Postini enabled for my mailbox, but I'm still getting spam. Is there anything I can do?
By default, Postini doesn't provide it's most aggressive level of spam protection, as higher levels of protection have the potential to catch legitimate mail. After you've gotten used to Postini, you may want to go in and adjust your Postini settings to a higher protection level.
Once you've made the change, be sure to check your message center a few times over the next week or two to make sure that legitimate mail isn't being quarantined. Most customers have no problems after setting the spam protection level higher.
To adjust your spam protection settings:
- Log into the Postini Message Center (link will open in new window). If you don't know or don't remember your Postini password, please see our logging in FAQ.
- In your Message Center, there will be a link near the top right called Junk Email Settings. Click the link (circled in red below below) to adjust your settings.

- In the Junk Email Settings screen (see below), you can adjust the overall level of protection (referred to as Bulk Email) as well as Postini's tolerance for common types of spam (Sexually Explicit, Get Rich Quick, Special Offers, etc).
If you're unsure of how much you should "turn up" your settings, try moving
each setting forward one notch. Monitor your mailbox and your Message Center for the next week or two, and adjust the settings upward again if you're still getting too much spam. If Postini catches legitimate messages that you'd rather have delivered, you may want to turn the settings down.
