Getting Started: FileMaker 4-6 databases and configuring passwords

Before you complete this step, make sure your databases have been uploaded to the FileMaker server and opened with the Alder database manager. Before you upload, make sure Web Companion is enabled for each file under File -> Sharing.

In your Lasso Site Admin, navigate to Data Sources - > Databases

Under Connector, choose Lasso Connector For FileMaker Pro. For Host, select the name of your FileMaker database host. Generally, this will be the only option on the list.

Next, you'll want to enable and configure each of your databases:

  • Locate your first FileMaker database in the list of databases. You may need to use the buttons near the bottom to locate your file. Click on the name of the first database.

  • If you refer to your database in your Lasso code by anything other than the name that appears in the Name field, type that name in the Alias blank.
  • For Status, select Enabled.
  • Default Database Username should always be blank.
  • If a FileMaker Pro password is required for database access (eg, the (no password) option is turned off or does not have full privileges), enter the file's FileMaker password for the Default Database Password. Generally, we recommend turning the (no password) option off in FileMaker and using a database password for more security.
  • If you specify a Default Database Password, change Always Connect with Defaults to Yes.
  • Generally, Do ISO/Mac Conversion should be off. If you expierence problems with strange characters showing up in your database output, you may need to turn this option on.

Repeat this procedure for each of your databases. After you finished, continue on to configure security for your databases
