Setting up your FileMaker 7 database to talk to Lasso 7

1) Pull down File -> Define -> Accounts & Privileges

2) Click on Extended Privileges. Click New to create a new extended privilege set.

3) For Keyword, you must type fmxml. In the Description field, type something to help you and other users of the database identify that this extended privilege set will be used by Lasso.

Finally, under Access, you must grant access to at least one FileMaker privilege set. The privilege set should have the appropriate permissions to read and modify the tables you'll be publishing to the web. You may want to create a new privilege set in the "Privilege Sets" area specifically for Lasso.

In our example we use a custom privilege set that has already been created, but you can also use one of the built in privilege sets, eg [Full Access]. For more information on FileMaker privilege sets, please see the documentation.

Click OK to create the privilege set and close the window.

4) Click over to the Accounts tab and click New to create a new access account.

5) The account should be authenticated by FileMaker. The account name and password should be your digital.forest user name and password. For Privilege Set, select one of the privilege sets that you granted the fmxml extended priviledge to in step 3. In the description field, you'll probably want to add a description to help you and other users of the database identify the purpose of this account.

6) That's it. You should now be able to add the database in the External Databases section of the Lasso Manager.
