How do I configure my Lasso Professional account to work with my FileMaker databases?
Before you begin, make sure you have uploaded your database files to your database server and opened them with Alder. You will not be able to activate your database in Lasso until it is open and ready on the database server.
Log in to the digital.forest Lasso Manager with your account username and password. Click on the External Databases link, located near the top right corner of the Lasso Manager.
Under the Activate an Existing Database heading, type the name of the first database you'd like to enable and click the "Add To Security" button. If your FileMaker filenames include ".fp5", omit that extension here. Repeat for each database you'd like to enable.
After you have enabled your databases, you will be able to specify a number of important paramaters for each database:
- If you have disabled the (no password) option on your FileMaker database, you'll want to enter a FileMaker password with the appropriate access privileges into the "Password" field for that database and click update. Lasso will then send that password to FileMaker when making database queries.
- If you specify a friendly name for your database in the "Alias" blank, you can use that friendly name in your Lasso code in lieu of the actual database name. This feature can be especially useful if you have to rename your database (due to a naming conflict, for example) after coding your site.
After you have enabled your databases, you will need to configure security at both the database and layout (table) level in the Security: Manage Groups and Security: Assign Permissions areas before Lasso will allow you to access your FileMaker data.
You must enable permissions at both the database and table level for Lasso to allow access. To get started quickly, you can assign generous permissions to the AnyUser group.
