After you have uploaded and opened all of your databases on the Web Companion machine, open a trouble ticket or give us a call so that we may configure FM Remote to recognize your databases. Once we configure FM Remote, you will not need to ask us again unless you add new databases with different names. We work hard to ensure that such requests will be handled the same day if submitted during our business hours.

In order for FM Remote to access your databases off our web companion machine, you'll want to add either a (no password) setting to your file, or a password of c0n!f3r, which is the default for our FM Remote settings.

(no password) or the c0n!f3r password needs at least the Browse & Export privileges to function properly with Lasso. Most customers will also want to also enable Create & Edit, however, if your database is strictly "read only," you can probably disable these permissions. For added security, you can set Available Menu Commands to None

You can configure these passwords by selecting:
File -> Access Privileges -> Define Passwords
with your local copy of the database.

As FM Remote "forgets" database passwords each time we reload the settings to add new databases, we unfortunately cannot tell FM Remote to open your database with a custom password. We are working hard to push BlueWorld for better password functionality in the next version.

We have taken every action to secure the Web Companion portion of your solution within the technology limitations of the FM Remote solution. Web Companion machines used for FM Remote serving ONLY serve through FM Remote -- there is no normal customer activity through the web companion. Instant Publishing has been disabled, and the web directory of the Web Companion only contains two static .html files. For added security, FileMaker 5 Web Companion servers are configured to accept web requests ONLY from the FM Remote server.

REMEMBER to turn on "Web Companion" in your database before uploading.
