Non-service-impacting configuration change
As part of the ongoing process to improve and enhance the statistical reporting package on our FreeBSD servers, some changes have been made to the locations of the error logs and unprocessed access logs for all accounts on Butternut, Souari, Silverpine and Spirea.
Error Logs
Previously, the current log was named "error_log", and all older logs were named "error_log-YYYYMMDD.bz2", reflecting the date of the log and the fact that it had been compressed.
Going forward, the current log will be named "error_log-YYYYMMDD", using the current day's date. The older logs remain unchanged.
Access Logs
Previously, the logs were available in:
http://server_name.forest.net/stats/account_name/account_name-logYYYYMM.gz
http://server_name.forest.net/stats/account_name/account_name-logYYYYMM.bz2
...where YYYYMM reflected the year and month covered by the log, with the current month's log using gzip compression and older logs using bzip2 compression.
Going forward, your logs will be available in:
http://server_name.forest.net/stats/account_name/access_logs/
...in browsable subdirectories organized by year and month.
Today's log will be uncompressed. All older logs will be bzip2 compressed.
All old logs are available in:
http://server_name.forest.net/stats/account_name/access_logs/old_logs/
Logs will continue to be preserved for at least one year. Stats output will be preserved indefinitely.
