digital.forest Cancels Plans for Alder 2.5 Commercial Release

Monday June 7, 1999

digital.forest today announced that it has cancelled plans for a commercial release of a multi-user version of its Alder Database Manager for FileMaker Pro(R).

Alder 2.5 is a script that runs in the Userland Frontier environment and allows users to open and close FileMaker databases on remote servers from a Web browser interface. The product also offers improved stability in the server environment with the addition of PreFAB Player from PreFAB software. Alder was first developed in 1997 and was released as a commercial product in July, 1998.

"Alder has been very successful for digital.forest and the need for an enterprise level product is clear. However, we intend to change the direction of our product plans and are intent on focusing on our core businesses as opposed to commercial software development at this time." said Chris Kilbourn, President and CTO of digital.forest.

digital.forest will continue to offer the use of Alder to its clientele for the purposes of administering their databases on digital.forest servers.
